As always, I do COMBINE Shipping!      Up for bid is this Extremely Rare Reed and Barton Silver Kentucky Derby plate from 1973. This is one of a three set series & they only ran for three years, but they were certainly some of the nicest Derby plates that has ever been made. Only 1500 were made each year so they are pretty hard to find.  The front has a picture of Riva Ridge galloping across the track as he was the winner of the 1972 Kentucky Derby !  Although the photos have a gold tint to them that is because they are highly polished silver which makes photos very difficult to get. The plate measures 10 3/4" wide.  This is number 970 of 1500 made in 1973 & that is the year Secretariat won the Kentucky Derby.  I'm not sure if it is Sterling Silver or Silver Plate, but according to what I could find out, it is a mixture of Silver, Bronze and Copper, it is tarnished and has not been cleaned.  I'll leave that to the new buyer! This Plate has been in the collection since the the year it was produced!   It is coming out of a large Kentucky Derby Collection that will be selling the entire collection!  Be sure to watch for all of these great items over the next few weeks!
