First edition, dated May 1909. A rare and important souvenir of the Olympics, one hundred years old, and likely to become increasingly sought after as the 2012 Games approach. Original red cloth, titles in gilt lettering to cover and spine. 794 pages, with over 100 photo illustrations, containing full results, lists of competitors, reports on each sport, rules, lists of officials, etc. Condition: the cover has some staining (see illustration) and slight wear to the extremities of the boards. Spine slightly faded. However, internally it is in excellent condition, no splits, tears or signs of wear to the binding, no marks apart from two previous ownership inscriptions on the flyleaf (one from 1919, the other from 1970).
