Description
You are bidding on a bat used by Rays phenom and 2008 AL Rookie of the Year Evan Longoria during the first week of his professional career while with the Hudson Valley Renegades, Short-season A Affiliate of Tampa Bay. Though I cannot guarantee this particular bat is the one held by Evan in the picture, I can assure the winner this bat collected at least one of Evan's 14 hits as a Renegade as Evan was never held hitless in a game as a 'Gade. The Renegades have been an affiliate of Tampa Bay since 1996. Longoria was assigned to Hudson Valley after being drafted in the 2006 draft. He spent little more than a week in the New York-Penn League, racking up this as a stat line:TOTALS: 8 Games, .424 AVG (33 AB) 5 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 4 HR, 11 RBI, 1 SBIn his final game at Dutchess Stadium, Evan went 3-for-4 with two monster home runs and a double. He was then promoted to Class-A Visalia and later to Class-AA Montgomery. When he was promoted to the Big Club in April 2008 it was for good, and he was rewarded for his stellar play with the AL Rookie of the Year Award. The bat features Longoria's name and #34 (the number he wore as a Renegade) on the knob, and is signed with #34 on the barrel of the bat. It is cracked at the handle, and close inspection shows the ball mark from the pitch that did this bat in. Very few Longoria signatures will have #34 - making this piece very rare! The bat has a few chew marks along the handle and the knob, all from a dog - "Dutchess" - that lives at Dutchess Stadium (home of the Renegades), probably done after the game it was broken in. This only adds to the authenticity and the character - and the rarity - of this priceless piece of Tampa Bay Rays history! This bat comes from a Letter of Authenticity signed by Renegades Assistant GM Corey Whitted. Buyer pays all shipping costs. Payment must be made via paypal within 72 hours of winning the auction or the item will be re-listed.If you have any questions, please ask.Happy bidding!
