The photographer was JAMES CLOUTIER who also did the original artwork for the OFFICIAL PROGRAM FOR THE 1972 TRIALS. James Cloutier is a Eugene, Oregon sports artist and photographer who also played baseball for the Oregon Ducks back in the 1960s. This great shot of Pre on the turn shows him leading a WISCONSIN runner and RICE runner. This was taken at the 1972 NCAA NATIONAL TRACK MEET at Hayward in 1972... It is a gorgeous image of course. Cloutier was photographing the race from the infield at Hayward. THIS IS A GREAT PHOTO FOR THE PRE COLLECTOR! Cloutier uses his photos for inspiration in his drawing.
