Description
Once in a lifetime deal... I purchased these items at an Estate Sale. The owner was a retired "honey wagon" driver for the Hollywood movie studios. For all you who are unfamiliar with that title, it is a person who drives and delivers the dressing rooms for the movie stars to the location of filming. Being a long time Los Angeles resident in the golden age of films he attended many Los Angeles Dodger baseball games. These item for sale as a set and were part of his collection. The Tickets are game 3, 4 and 5 of the 1959 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox. These tickets are the First World Series for the Dodgers and the West coast after relocating the Dodgers from the East coast to Los Angeles. The Program is the 1963 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees. It has many nostalgic advertising shots and signatures of both teams. This is a collectable for both Los Angeles Dodger & New York Yankee fans. In this series the Dodgers won in a 4 game sweep against the "Bronx Bombers". The Picture is a genuine hand signed in blue ink autograph of Gil Hodges. Gil Hodges held and broke several records during his time with the majors. Some of his highlights are as follows: August 31, 1950 he belts 4 HR ending his day with 17 total bases. The most since 1894. He also became the first Dodger to have 4 extra base hits in 1 game twice in his career, and his 9 RBIs are a franchise record. August 29, 1951 sets the Dodger HR record with his 35th & 36th against the Reds. He would end the season with 40. May 30, 1954 He beats the Giants with a 3 HR inside the park HR. September 26,1954 sets a Dodger record with his 25th HR at Ebbets Field and 42nd of the season tying Duke Snider. August 1, 1957 he sets a National League record 13th grand slam. April 23, 1958 he belts his 300th HR. The list goes on... The Baseball is a July 15, 1964 game ball. The signatures start off wth Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Joe Becker, Ron Perronoski, Jeff Torney, Johnny Podres, Leo Durocher, Jim Gilliam, Bob Miller, Maury Wills, John Roseboro, Nate Olsen, last signature unrecognized.
